This project focuses on artwork created for Dehradun Airport, a space that handles a large number of travelers daily and acts as a gateway to Uttarakhand. The goal was to design art that reflects regional identity while fitting naturally into a modern airport environment. The work needed to feel like part of the space, not something separate from it.
The challenge here was working within a public space that is constantly in motion. Unlike static displays, airport art is experienced briefly—people are walking, waiting, or passing by. So the design had to communicate quickly without losing depth.
Another key difficulty was cultural representation. The artwork needed to reflect local heritage and spiritual elements without becoming overwhelming or overly complex. It also had to align with the scale of the terminal, where large murals and installations can easily feel either too empty or too crowded. Public art in the airport already includes large murals and symbolic elements, so maintaining balance was critical.
The approach focused on creating visuals that are easy to read from a distance while still holding detail up close. Composition and scale were handled carefully so the artwork feels integrated with the architecture rather than placed on top of it.
Instead of overloading the design, the focus was on clear storytelling through selected elements that represent culture and place. This makes the artwork effective in a fast-moving environment, allowing travelers to connect with it quickly while still giving it enough depth to hold attention. The result is a visual that supports the identity of the space while remaining clean, structured, and adaptable across the terminal.
