The Hanimaadhoo Airport project focuses on visually representing a regional airport that connects smaller islands in the Maldives. The goal was to capture the airport as part of its surroundings—open space, coastal context, and a calmer travel environment compared to large international hubs.
The client needed a representation that doesn’t feel like a typical busy airport. Unlike major terminals, this airport has a simpler structure and a more relaxed setting, so the design had to reflect that difference.
Another challenge was balancing environment and infrastructure. The runway, terminal, and surrounding landscape all play an equal role here. If too much focus goes on one element, the overall scene loses its sense of place. Keeping the composition clear while still showing the natural setting was a key difficulty.
The approach focused on keeping the composition open and balanced. The layout gives space to both the airport structure and its surroundings, allowing the viewer to understand the environment as a whole.
Instead of adding unnecessary detail, the design highlights key elements—runway alignment, terminal placement, and coastal context—so the scene feels complete without becoming heavy. This helps the client present the airport in a way that reflects its actual scale and setting, making it suitable for both visual presentation and portfolio use.
